Saint Adeodatos was the 68th Pope of the Catholic Church and exercised the ministry of Peter for a period of 3 years (615-618). Son of a deacon named Stephen, Adeodatos (Adeodatus in Latin, it means ‘given by God’) was born in Rome at a time when the Italian peninsula was at the mercy of Lombard and Byzantine invaders.

At a very young age he entered the Benedictine monastery in Rome, dedicated to Saint Erasmus, where he trained to be a priest.
