The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Municipalities announced today, Thursday, that it has achieved advanced completion rates in the Samarra sewage project, and while it confirmed that the current year will witness the completion of the project in full, it indicated that the project will contribute to enhancing the environmental reality of the city.

Abdul Hamid Al-Samarrai, the media official for the sewage project network, told the (INA), “The sewage project in the city of Samarra is considered one of the most important infrastructure projects in the city, as work on this project began in 2021, with a completion period extending to three years, that is, until the end of this year.”
Al-Samarrai added, “The project is divided into two parts: networks and lifting stations and treatment networks. The completion rate today has reached more than 99% with the completion of connecting homes. There are 8 lifting stations with a completion rate of 75%, as these stations push water to the treatment stations, the completion rate of which has reached more than 80%.”
He added, “The design capacity of the project reaches 56,000 cubic meters per day,” noting that “it is hoped that the project will be completed during the current year.”
For his part, the resident engineer of the project, Duraid Samir Sabry, confirmed to the (INA), that “civil works at the Samarra sewage treatment plant are ongoing,” explaining that “the project serves the neighborhoods of Samarra city, as it will provide heavy water network services to the city and contribute to enhancing the environmental reality of the city, as heavy water is treated in the station and the water is filtered, then the treated water is released into the river.”
He added, “The ongoing work on the project currently extends to several parts of the station, including the ventilation basins, which are close to being fully completed. Currently, there is work on the bridges for the special pumps, and work is continuing on the inlet basin and other parts of the project.”
He pointed out that “the project is located on an area of 50 dunums in the first phase.”
