Liverpool don’t want to let the lead in the English Championship slip away. This Saturday, with Salah’s brilliance, they beat Brentford 4-1, at the G Tech Community Stadium, in the 25th round of the English Championship. In addition to isolating themselves at the top, they put new pressure on Manchester City and Arsenal in the fight for the title.

With the victory, the second in a row, Liverpool reached 57 points and secured the lead for another round, even in the event of a victory by their main opponents. Brentford, in turn, remains stuck in the 25, but, for now, is not at serious risk of relegation.

The Egyptian Salah was once again the highlight of the match, with a goal and an assist. Returning from injury, after a month away from the field, the star didn’t need 90 minutes to lead Liverpool towards another victory. In the English Championship, there were 21 games, 15 goals and nine assists.

The first half was more competitive. Liverpool had control, but found no space, until they counted on the talent of their stars to decide the duel. Diego Jota made a sensational pass to Darwin Núñez, who made a dig to beat Flekken and make it 1-0.

Despite conceding the goal, Brentford continued to play hard and threatened Liverpool, who were much superior in the second half, when they involved the opponent and didn’t let them breathe. In the ninth minute, Salah found Mac Allister inside the box. He cut the marking and made a light touch to enlarge it.

Liverpool continued crushing the opponent until at 22, Salah left his. The Egyptian, whose performance was much celebrated by Jürgen Klopp, took advantage of a defensive error by his rival, to recover the ball and fire towards the goal. Inside the area, he shot past the goalkeeper.

Brentford pulled one back at 30, with a rebound from Ivan Toney, but were unable to reduce the intensity of Liverpool, who added a fourth at 41. Gakpo received it from Luis Diz and shot with precision to give the final numbers to the duel. The visiting team just didn’t score the fifth at the end, as Van Dijk’s header hit the crossbar.

Liverpool returns to the field on Wednesday, at 4:30 pm (Brasília time), against Luton Town, at Anfield. Bretford will face West Ham on Monday (26), at 5pm, at the London Olympics.
