Salalah will be the new, previously unknown destination for Bulgarians this winter, as direct charters will be organized for the first time to this city in the south of Oman. The news, which was announced by Mohammed Elkatan, the general director of a tour operator with offices in Salalah and Dubai, coincided with the information about the intensification and strengthening of relations between the official authorities in Sofia and Muscat.

After the visit of the two Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Nevyana Miteva and Maria Angelieva, to Oman this summer, there are now meetings between President Rumen Radev and Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov with the head of Omani diplomacy, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, during the UN Session in New York. The Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth of Oman, Teyyazin bin Haitham al-Said, who is also the crown prince of the country, has been invited to visit Bulgaria, as well as the Minister of Tourism of Oman, Salem bin Mohammed al-Mahruki. The possibility of Bulgaria opening its embassy in Muscat is also being discussed.

“Oman is one of the safest countries in the world, there is practically no crime there, and this gives tourists a sense of security and comfort, and the local people are very kind and hospitable,” commented Mohammed Elkatan at the presentation of the new destination in southern Oman.

Charter flights from Sofia to Salalah start on November 23 and end on March 2 next year, operated by “Emerald Travel”.

“The dates are in line with the cooling of the weather in Bulgaria and, accordingly, with the temperatures in Salalah, which in this period are between 28 and 33 degrees, which is a good alternative for the winter months in your country. Bulgarians do not know Oman, those who have gone, usually visit the capital and the north of the country, while the south is completely unknown, and it offers a lot of culture, history and nature in Salalah, which appeals to many tourists a special dress code and women do not have to cover their heads and alcohol is not prohibited as in other Arab countries,” Elkatan added.
