Salaries and opening clearing… the most important topics of Ghaffar’s meeting with bank managers

Today, Thursday, the acting governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Abdel Fattah Abdel Ghaffar, held a meeting at the headquarters of the Banking Supervision Department in Tripoli with the directors of public and private banks and their representatives, and a number of department directors at the Central Bank.

The bank’s official page reported that the meeting discussed the issue of disbursing salaries to the public sectors in the country on time, addressing the liquidity shortage crisis in banks to alleviate citizens’ suffering, in addition to developing electronic payment systems.

During the meeting, the acting governor discussed the coordination mechanism and banks’ contracting with expertise houses, employing competencies, and benefiting from international experiences in order to enhance the financial position of banks and develop them to provide the best services to citizens and facilitate them.

Ghaffar addressed the necessity of opening electronic clearing between banks in the east and west of the country in an effective and urgent manner, in accordance with banking and legal procedures, in addition to coordinating with the Ministry of Interior to enhance the security of banks in all their branches throughout the country.

The acting governor of the Central Bank of Libya urged to work with professionalism and high efficiency to advance the banking sector and develop and improve banking services, stressing the need to enhance the principle of financial disclosure and transparency, and activate training programs for bank employees.
