by time news

An “unprecedented revaluation”. Éric Dupond-Moretti announced this Monday morning on the BFMTV set a salary increase of 1000 euros per month for judicial judges. “I want the magistrates of the judicial order to be paid like the magistrates of the administrative order”, explained the Minister of Justice who affirms that they have “not been upgraded since 1996”.

The increase will be “around 1000 euros gross on average” per month, added the Keeper of the Seals, who did not specify either the timetable or the cost of this measure.

The Minister thus affirms that he wants to put an end to “years of abandonment” and tackle the problems of “attractiveness” of the judiciary.

8% increase in the Justice budget in 2023

The question of the remuneration of magistrates features very high in the demands recorded in the report of the States General of Justice, which drew up the observation of a state of “advanced dilapidation” of the institution, at the end of several months of consultations.

Éric Dupond-Moretti also mentioned an 8% increase in his ministry’s budget for 2023. Measures that he must detail during the new round of discussions of the Estates General of Justice which opens on Monday.

These new consultations aim to finalize a government action plan to be presented in October.
