Salem: Vegetables worth Rs 1.08 crore were sold in farmers’ markets of Salem district on the occasion of Saraswati Puja. Salem district’s 11 farmers’ markets usually sell vegetables and fruits for 70 lakh rupees. Ahead of Saraswati Puja yesterday, people thronged to buy vegetables and fruits. According to this, 238 tons of vegetables and 48 tons of fruits were brought to 11 farmers markets, thereby selling for 1 crore, 8 lakhs, 14 thousand, 191 rupees.
