Sale of 324.55 tonnes of copra in government procurement centre Dinamalar

Anaimalai: 324.55 tonnes of copra was traded at the government copra purchase station operating at Anaimalai regulation market for 3.43 crore rupees. There is a lot of coconut cultivation in the areas of Pollachi and Anaimalai taluk. In this case, as the price of copra fell in the market, the farmers demanded that the government should start procurement at the reference price. Last May, 10th in Coimbatore district, in five regulated sales halls namely Pollachi, Negamam, Centuryry, Anaimalai and Kinathukadavu, copra procurement started. The price in the outdoor market has dropped to below 80 rupees. Due to this, the farmers are selling at the government procurement station. 324.55 tonnes of copra has been procured in 6,491 bags of 50 kg weight from the day of its inception till yesterday. As a result, the trade has taken place for 3.43 crore rupees.
