Deputies are thinking about whether to stop their energy drinks as well
A handbook for parents will inform about the dangers of paradise gas
The use, sale, offering and advertising of vapes to children is now prohibited. The decision to do so was taken by 140 MPs on Thursday, amending the Child Protection Act.

motivated the initiators of the changes from GERB. That is why the texts in the Child Protection Act introduce a ban on the sale of any kind of devices – smokeless and heated tobacco products, the so-called nicotine free vapes, gum and more.
“Any device that resembles a smoking product, other than a tobacco product, regardless of its composition and the way it is consumed, instills in children a positive attitude towards these products, including tobacco”, commented the deputy head during the debates of the health commission Kostadin Angelov from GERB.
At the suggestion of Stoyu Stoev from the PP-DB, an editorial amendment was adopted, banning the advertising of vapes on radio and television.
“This is a battle that we have to win for our children, and looking at everything that is happening in the media, the next battle that we have to fight is against the use of energy drinks among teenagers. Maybe this will be the first thing we will start in the next parliament”, Angelov supported him. According to him, the apparent “absence of harmful substances” or “reduced harm”
encourage children to use vapes in excessive amounts,
consuming them for a long time without interruption. And in this way, the damage to their life and health is intensified.
Electronic cigarettes and hookahs can cause lung disease, heart problems, and in severe cases, respiratory failure, doctors warn. In July, a 15-year-old girl from Pazardzhik was admitted to the hospital because she had a seizure after smoking a vape. The device she used contained tetrahydrocannabinol, the main psychoactive ingredient in cannabis.
“People who use this substance have impaired concentration and coordination. Their blood pressure drops, their arterioles dilate, and their eyes turn red. If a child uses such a vape, it will not be adequate, it will have impaired concentration and attention, with low blood pressure, it can even lead to a collapse,” pulmonologist Dr. Sofia Angelova told BTV.
Balloons with heavenly gas are also widely distributed among children. Their sale to minors was banned by the MPs at the end of last year. Now the State Agency for Child Protection (SAPS) is working on updating the Handbook for parents, which will include information on the harm and consequences of the use of vaping gas, cigarettes and alcohol for children. The document will be distributed by educational institutions.
By the end of this year, special programs will also be developed to inform children of the harmful effects of greenhouse gas. The training will be carried out by the regional inspectorates of education at the Ministry of Education and Culture. The Children’s Council to the DASP also suggests preparing a national information campaign on the subject, writes BTA.

“The parent shall provide constant supervision of his or her minor child and appropriate control of the minor child’s behavior. It is their right and duty to ensure security and safety for their children, including during the holidays,” says the DASP. They remind that children must be accompanied when they are out after 10 p.m. And if there is no parent with them, then the people who accompany them must have a declaration.
