The protest was led by Grama Bank Officers Association President Ando Football. In the protest, it was said that village banks should be freed from the hold of sponsor banks and a national village bank should be formed, promotions and new working arrangements should be made in all village banks on the basis of Mitra Committee.

In addition, they said that in accordance with the Supreme Court’s order of equal pay for equal work, minimum wages should be paid to temporary employees and should be given on a compassionate basis like in commercial banks.
Further, the Tamil Nadu Grama Bank employees went on strike demanding the full implementation of the 11th Bilateral Agreement in the Grama Banks, the withdrawal of the new pension scheme and the implementation of the old pension scheme.
