During the first quarter of the year, the sale of motor vehicles light vehicles surpassed levels not seen in seven years by placing 349 thousand 752 units in the country, 11% more than the previous year.
Between January, February and March, 34,626 more units were sold than in 2023, reported the Mexican Association of Automotive Distributors (AMDA). Regarding the performance against the immediately previous month, an increase in new light vehicles sold stands out. 11 thousand 137 unitsthat is, an advance of 9.8% with respect to the data from February 2024.
Rosales highlighted that the level of marketing for the current month is much higher than the sales recorded before the pandemic in 2019, getting high 5.8% above the 117,529 units sold then.
In the January-March 2024 period, the market is positioned above the 2019 sales levels up to a 5%.
The automotive industry, based on the vehicle placement record, projected that the National consumer price index recorded an annual increase of 4.48% and vehicle inflation corresponding to purchases had an annual increase of 2.13%, with data as of the first half of March 2024.
The AMDA foresees an expected growth of GDP for the end of this year of 2.40% according to the expectations survey of private sector economic specialists directed by the Bank of Mexico; while for 2025 the forecast is 1.80% for our country.
In 2024 it is predicted that the inflation achieve annual progress of 4.10%, while in 2025 the forecast at the end of the year is 3.70%.
