Sales of Norton and Avast antiviruses stopped in Russia and Belarus

American antivirus developer NortonLifeLock Inc. and the Czech developer Avast stopped the release of their products for users from Russia and Belarus. The decision was made in connection with the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, which has been going on since February 24. The companies also suspended servicing Russian and Belarusian clients.

“Due to recent events and in accordance with export control regulations, we are unable to accept new orders or provide assistance at this time,” NortonLifeLock Inc. said in a statement. (quote from Interfax).

“Avast is deeply saddened by the Ukrainian conflict. We have employees and customers in both countries and are monitoring the situation very closely. We are prioritizing keeping our people safe and providing the support and assistance they and their families need during this challenging time. We are also committed to supporting, to the extent possible, our services and products for our users, and our Threat Intelligence team is working to rapidly identify new threats emerging from the conflict,” Avast said in a statement.

Earlier, against the background of the aggravation of the military-political situation in Ukraine, sales for users from Russia and Belarus were stopped by the Slovak manufacturer of security solutions ESET.
