Sales: Shops open on Sunday – What hours, what to look out for

The shops will be open to consumers tomorrow, Sunday 14 July, the first of this year’s summer sales.

According to the Athens Chamber of Commerce, stores may optionally stay open on the first Sunday of summer sales, and an opening time of 11:00 am is recommended. – 6:00 p.m

At the same time, malls are expected to open from 11:00 am. until 8:00 p.m

What about supermarkets?

Most supermarkets will not be open next Sunday, except for Lidl which has announced that selected stores will be open from 11:00am. until 8:00 pm and the Mo market stores will be open from 11:00 pm until 3:00 pm, but they will not deliver orders through the e-shop.

Things consumers and shoppers should watch out for

If the percentage of products supplied at a reduced price exceeds 60% of their total, it is mandatory to indicate the percentage of the discount provided in the shop window and in any other commercial communication.

If there are different discount rates per product category, the range of the rate offered should be indicated (“from …. % to …. “).

In the event of an audit, shoppers must be able to demonstrate that the old selling price shown on the collaboration corresponds to reality and that the way the reduced price is calculated and displayed is inaccurate.

In any case, consumers must ask for proof, as well as reasons related to fiscal integrity, in the event that a defective product is purchased, the money must be refunded to consumers.
