Salman was told not to shave his chest hair, then out of the picture – Anurag Kashyap

Salman Khan starrer Tere Naam was released in 2003. Made on a budget of 10 crores, the film was a resounding success at the box office. The romantic tragedy film was directed by Satish Kaushik. Bhumi Chawla is the heroine of the film.

‘Tere Naam’ was to be directed by Anurag Kashyap. However, Anurag Kashyap disappeared from the film during the pre-production work and Satish Kaushik took over the direction. There was no explanation for this incident at the time. Anurag Kashyap has revealed the reason after two decades.

Anurag Kashyap says that he did not withdraw from the film, he was fired. He disclosed in an interview. He added that he was dropped from the film right after he told Salman Khan not to shave his chest hair.

“Radhe, played by Salman Khan, is a rowdy in Uttar Pradesh. People living there don’t shave their chest hair. When I raised the demand, I was replaced by another director. I have nothing but respect for Salman Khan.” Anurag Kashyap added that he likes his films like Sultan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Dabangg. Anurag Kashyap’s brother Abhinav Kashyap is the director of ‘Dabangg’ which released in 2010.
