The Governor of Oaxaca, Solomon Jara Crossand the state leaders who make up the National Conference of Governors (Conago) urged the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) for what reconsider declaring unconstitutional informal preventive detentionsince they considered that it is a decision that will impact the public security and governability of the country and with it that of the federal entities.

He pointed out that a resource known as “friends of the court” was sent to the minister president of the SCJN, Norma Lucía Piña Hernández, in which they argue their concern and opposition to the ministers declaring the informal preventive detention inapplicable.

“This precautionary measure allows us to guarantee the proper conduct of the criminal process and achieve clarification of the facts, protect the victims of crimes, ensure that the person responsible does not go unpunished, as well as ensure that the damage caused by the crime is repaired.

He indicated that Governors and the Head of Government of Mexico City agreed that the declaration of inapplicability of informal preventive detention would represent a serious risk to national security and the security of society in all federal entities.

Through a message on his social media accounts, the Oaxacan president supported the call of the members of the Conago to the SCJN.

“The members of Conago respectfully call on the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation to reconsider the resolution regarding preventive detention, a mechanism that responds to a policy of combating crime, always taking into account the rights of “victims of crime.”

Finally, Governor Salomón Jara Cruz commented that the document was delivered to the country’s highest court on April 26 and a response from the minister president is awaiting.
