The national salon chains Regis and Supercuts have announced a year-long partnership with The Little Princess Trust, a charity dedicated to providing real hair wigs and funding research into childhood cancers. The collaboration, launching in 2026, will see participating salons offer complimentary haircuts to individuals donating 12 or more inches of hair, alongside a complete styling service.
A Personal Connection Drives the Partnership
The decision to support The Little Princess Trust stemmed from a presentation attended by stylists from Regis and Supercuts at the annual Wella TrendVision Awards in London. There, they learned about the charity’s vital work in sourcing hair donations, crafting wigs, and supporting crucial research initiatives. However, the commitment deepened following a personal experience for Carla Whelan, Chief Executive Officer of Supercuts and Regis.
Whelan underwent treatment for breast cancer and experienced firsthand the transformative power of a real hair wig. “I was moved by the work of The Little Princess Trust from the moment I met the team and heard about their mission to support young people,” she stated. “My own recent experience of cancer treatment hair loss and how wigs enabled me to feel confident again reinforced my goal to give something back.”
Supporting Young People Through Hair Donations and Beyond
The Little Princess Trust provides wigs to children and young people up to the age of 24 who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment or other conditions. The charity assists over 2,000 individuals annually, offering not only a tangible solution to hair loss but also a significant boost to self-esteem.
Regis and Supercuts will facilitate donations by offering a free service that includes cutting the ponytail, shampooing, restyling, and a blow-dry. This comprehensive offering aims to remove barriers to donation and encourage greater participation. With 65 salons across the UK, the partnership hopes to significantly increase the number of hair donations received by The Little Princess Trust. “
Funding Research Alongside Wig Provision
Beyond providing wigs, The Little Princess Trust is also committed to funding vital research into childhood cancers. Regis and Supercuts will actively promote this aspect of the charity’s work throughout the year, organizing fundraising events to support these critical initiatives.
Phil Brace, Chief Executive of The Little Princess Trust, expressed gratitude for the partnership. “We are so grateful to Carla and all the staff at Regis and Supercuts for making us their charity of the year,” he said. “Their support will be a huge help and ensure we can not only provide wigs but also let many more people know that we are here to help any young person, up to the age of 24, with hair loss.”
Individuals interested in donating their hair can now book a free cutting service at a participating Regis or Supercuts salon by calling their local branch directly. Whelan expressed optimism about the initiative, stating, “I’m hopeful people of all ages with naturally coloured hair will feel inspired to donate their hair.”
This collaboration represents a powerful synergy between a national salon network and a dedicated charity, promising to make a tangible difference in the lives of young people facing the challenges of hair loss.
