Chaired by Carlos René Hernandez Castillo, the Salvadoran parliamentary delegation learned about the efforts made to strengthen basic infrastructure in Laayoune, in addition to the measures taken by the State to breathe new life into development in the region.

On this occasion, the members of the delegation followed at the headquarters of the municipality of Laayoune, in the presence of the president of the municipal council, Moulay Hamdi Ould Errachid, a presentation on the development program of the municipality and learned about the various development projects included in the framework of the new Development Model of the Southern provinces, launched by HM King Mohammed VI in 2015.

Earlier in the day, the parliamentary delegation held a meeting with the Wali of the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region, Governor of the province of Laayoune, Abdeslam Bekrate, during which emphasis was placed on the relevance of the autonomy plan presented by Morocco, as well as on the development boom that the region is experiencing in different areas.

During this meeting, the Wali of the region highlighted the democratic process in the southern provinces, in particular the last free and transparent elections marked by massive participation of the local population, thus reflecting their attachment to the motherland and their adherence to the management of their local affairs.

In addition, the parliamentary delegation visited major construction sites to learn about the quality of the educational, sports and socio-economic infrastructure.

In this context, they visited the sports village, the Olympic swimming pool, the women’s club and the indoor sports hall, in addition to the City of Trades and Skills and the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy.
