The effectiveness of the actions of the National Navy has led to the arrest of five low-profile vessels carrying several kilos of drugs valued at millions of dollars, and manned by foreigners.
The first LPV detected and seized by the militia was on May 19, when an Ecuadorian and two Colombians were traveling, transporting 1.3 tons of cocaine, worth approximately $32.5 million. In this same operation, another vessel was detected, which was in charge of collecting the cargo, with three Mexicans on board.
Five days later, another boat was detained by the National Navy. They intercepted another boat 882 nautical miles (1,633 kilometers) southwest of Bocana El Cordoncillo, Estero de Jaltepeque, with two Ecuadorian crew members. One of them died in an exchange with the military.
It is estimated to contain approximately 1.4 tons of cocaine, valued at about $35 million.
Eleven days later, on June 4, another boat was intercepted 805 nautical miles (1,491 kilometers) away. The vessel had three Ecuadorian crew members on board.
This vessel was transporting a ton of cocaine, valued at around $25 million. On June 24, President Bukele reported another intervention on an LPV, 630 nautical miles (1,167 kilometers) away.
The boat was carrying three crew members: one Colombian and two Ecuadorians. All were arrested. The boat contained more than two tons of cocaine, valued at around $50 million.
