The Palermo is considering a sensational return: it’s Salvatore Sirigu, who after 13 years could write a new chapter of his story in Rosanero. The injury to the patellar tendon suffered by Gomis has forced the Sicilians to search for a new goalkeeper, and the 1987-born player is the favorite to fill that role. Sirigu is currently a free agent after spending the last six months with Karagumruk in Turkey.

Sirigu and Palermo: from beginnings to golden years
The story between Sirigu and Palermo began in 2005 when the Sicilians recruited him from Venezia. After two seasons between the Primavera and the first team, he was loaned first to Cremonese, then to Ancona. Once he returned, Walter Zenga entrusted Sirigu with the keys to the Palermo goal. During those years, the club under then president Zamparini was very competitive and came close to achieving two historic goals: in 2010, qualification for the Champions League slipped away by just two points, and in the following season, Palermo lost the Coppa Italia final against Inter. Sirigu left the club in 2011 to join Paris Saint-Germain. After 13 years, the goalkeeper could return to the team that raised and launched him to complete the most classic of circles.
