The Frankfurt Radio Symphony wanted to show solidarity with the people of Ukraine, explained conductor Alain Altinoglu at the end of the first of three guest performances in the Great Festival Hall. As an encore they therefore decided on a work by Valentin Silvestrov: “Hymn” for strings from 2001.
