Title: 21-Year-Old Convicted of Aiding and Abetting Murder in Solberga Shooting

Date: June 24, 2022

Late in the evening of June 23, 2022, the police received multiple calls reporting a gunshot and people fleeing in a black Volvo near a residential area in Solberga, Stockholm. Upon arrival at the scene, authorities discovered the lifeless body of a man in his 30s in a wooded area. The victim, a designated drug dealer and suspect in an ongoing drug case, had visited his parents before leaving to meet a friend. Police suspect that the murder was a result of a conflict between two groups in the vicinity.

Thanks to testimonies from witnesses and the background information, the police swiftly identified a potential suspect. Sam Kusoffsky, a known member of a criminal gang, stood out as the main lead due to his previous involvement in illegal activities. Kusoffsky, who recently turned 21, has been seen in videos and pictures on his cell phone brandishing a gun and pulling out a knife.

Throughout the investigation, evidence unveiled the involvement of several individuals in the murder. According to the district court’s verdict, Kusoffsky either transported accomplices and the murder weapon, or directly shot the victim. His DNA was found in multiple locations, including the identified Volvo and the murder weapon found in the getaway car. Additionally, other individuals’ DNA was discovered on the murder weapon, but to a lesser extent than Kusoffsky’s.

Kusoffsky’s confiscated mobile phone contained photos of him posing with weapons, including on the day of the murder. Screenshots from Snapchat also revealed that he had been referred to by criminal acquaintances as a “soldier” and associated with a nickname implying involvement in a murder. Although Kusoffsky claimed that the weapon pictures were taken for show, the district court rejected this statement.

The accumulated evidence led the court to believe that Kusoffsky was present and participated in the murder. Yet, it was not proven beyond reasonable doubt that he was the one who fired the fatal shots. Consequently, Kusoffsky was not convicted of murder but received a 15-year prison sentence for aiding and abetting murder and aggravated weapons offenses.

Kusoffsky, who had a prior criminal record for offenses such as kidnapping, drug crimes, and serious weapons offenses, had a social circle comprised of individuals suspected or convicted of various serious crimes. However, no one else has been linked to the murder scene, despite extensive investigations that included text messages, cellphone tracking, and mapping of Kusoffsky’s movements.

While the court considered the possibility of someone else firing the fatal shots, Kusoffsky’s own account was disregarded. Ultimately, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison for his involvement in the Solberga shooting.

The investigation into the Solberga shootings is ongoing, and the police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
