Samantha Gilabert, singer: “You never stop learning in front of a camera”

In addition, he releases a new album, ‘Antidote’, which will have its tour in the first months of next year. Samantha Gilabert does not limit herself to just being a singer, she also jumps into the pool of the field of communication, forming the podcast ‘Triunfitas con traumitas’ along with one of her classmates from the academy, Maialen, also known as Startle Girl. However, she doesn’t lose focus on it: be a disciplined singer in many other fields.

You are a singer, writer and podcaster, what are you missing?

(Laughs) Well, many things, I could also be a rhythm athlete, for example.

Starting next year the Antidote Tour begins, which Samantha are we going to meet?

We are beginning to consider it seriously. Above all, what I want is to enjoy, to be with my musicians, for everything to be live and very organic. Being able to sing all the songs possible. My goal is for people to enjoy it as much as we do, with some surprises in between.

What are your expectations of the public that goes to the tour?

Let them get excited. I want them to take advantage of that hour and a half or two hours to forget about their problems and, above all, to leave wanting to repeat.

You start in Madrid, go through Barcelona and end up in the city of Valencia. Is the Valencian city your final touch?

Yes, I also think it will be the most anticipated. In addition, it will also be the one where more friends and family will be able to attend. And of course the one with the most surprises; There will be many people and many musicians who will come up to sing.

Of course, Cactus are always there, as well as La Fúmiga. Wow, good people.

From your time in Cactus to your second album ‘Antidoto’, what has changed?

Four years have passed, in fact, just four years ago we were in the final casting of Operación Triunfo. To begin with, I’m going to turn thirty and at that time I was twenty-five. This means that over time he has acquired a brutal maturity, both personally and musically.

You are currently participating in Duos Increíbles with David Summers, what can you tell us?

This week we have become semi-finalists, you can see us every Tuesday on RTVE. In fact, last week, David and I announced that I will be on Hombres G’s 40 years compilation album, collaborating with all of them.

And how has your time in the contest been?

The truth is, very gratifying. We have learned a lot, we have been working all summer, rehearsing, going from here to there, going up and down. Artists such as Paloma San Basilio, Teo Bok and Coti have accompanied us. It is also very exciting, but in the end it is still a contest and it also has its share of having a hard time because there is a lot of anguish, but it is a very cool feeling.

Do you think contests are your thing?

I would say yes, but I don’t know for sure either. It’s my thing because I like it and I enjoy it. In short, the television, the screen and the camera make me very comfortable.

OT 2023 premiered a week ago, how are you experiencing it at the moment?

With great enthusiasm, it is a very attractive format. I hope it works, I’m sure it does, I have no doubt.

Are you missing any Valencian triumph in this edition?

That’s what I’ve seen, that there are no Valencians. Nothing, next year if that, nothing happens. In reality there have always been few. Furthermore, in these last editions, there have hardly been any Valencians who will speak Valencian.

What advice would you give to the new winners?

Obviously enjoy it because it goes by very quickly. In reality, OT is a parenthesis within a parenthesis that then goes up in smoke. At first they will miss it, but then it will pass because they have a long way to go.

In your podcaster role we have ‘Triunfitas con traumitas’, how did it come about?

At the academy, Maialen and I were already talking about doing a podcast together. Then, when we were outside we talked about it and said “let’s get serious.” It was said and done; We contacted the people we had to talk to and we got it out. The truth is we are quite happy because people really like it and it is working quite well: we couldn’t ask for more.

Looking towards the end of the year, what do you have in store?

In December I will release a new single, which we will present at the New Year’s Eve gala on Spanish Television. Of course, there is also ‘Incredible Duos’, the concerts in January, February and March and podcast. There are some projects that I have in mind, but nothing concrete. One of the things that I am clear about is that in the summer we will have more things, we will tour the festivals that come out, and see what happens.
