The Tamil National Federation has welcomed the lifting of the ban imposed on some diaspora Tamil organizations and some individuals by the Sri Lankan government led by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Apart from that, the federation also insisted that the names of other diaspora Tamil organizations and individuals who are still banned should be removed from the blacklist.

Under UN Security Council Resolution 1373, the government led by former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa imposed sanctions on 18 organizations and 577 individuals within Sri Lanka.

In this context, the Ministry of Defense of Sri Lanka has announced that the ban on 6 organizations banned in Sri Lanka namely the World Council of Tamils, British Council of Tamils, Canadian Tamil Congress, Australian Tamil Congress, World Dravida Coordination Committee and Dravida Eelam People’s Federation, and the ban on 316 individuals have been lifted. .

Speaking to the media, the President of Tamil Tessia Federation, I. Sambandan, said,

“This is a good thing. We welcome this move by the government. The contribution of diaspora Tamils ​​is very essential for the revival of Sri Lanka, which is mired in economic crisis.
