The South Korean corporation “Samsung Electronics” (Samsung Electronics) has announced that it has started mass production of a device for storing and transferring data from a hard disk (Solid State Drive – SSD disks) to personal computers with artificial intelligence, DPA reported.
The company started mass production of the PM9E1 hard drives with the latest high-speed interface standard with the maximum data throughput from 31 to approximately 63 gigabytes per second (GB/s) – (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express 5.0 – PCIe 5.0).
SSDs have significantly improved energy efficiency of more than 50 percent, allowing for longer battery life in line with artificial intelligence applications, the company said.
Samsung plans to roll out its advanced PM9E1 drives to global PC manufacturers. The company expects to launch consumer products, the new high-speed interface in the future to solidify its leadership in the market for artificial intelligence devices.
The SSD is built on the basis of an internal 5-nanometer controller and flash memory technology, a class of non-volatile memory that retains data even in the absence of electrical current of the eighth generation (V-NAND (V8).
The PM9E1 drives will provide strong performance and improved energy efficiency, making them an optimal solution for computers with artificial intelligence, BTA reported.
