Samsung BioLogics announced on the 28th that it, along with its subsidiary Samsung Bioepis, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Yonsei University to foster talent in the bio research and development (R&D) field. The signing ceremony, held at Yonsei University in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, was attended by key officials including Lee Kyu-ho, head of the Samsung BioLogics People Center, Noh Sung-won, head of the Samsung Bioepis HR team, and Song Jae-hwan, president of Yonsei University.

According to the agreement, Samsung BioLogics and Samsung Bioepis plan to establish a ‘Bio Talent Development Track’ under Yonsei University’s College of Life Sciences to proactively develop and secure excellent talent. Specifically, excellent scholarship students will be selected from among the 4th year students of the College of Life Sciences and will be trained for master’s degrees in bio R&D. Scholarship students will receive tuition and tuition subsidies for the entire semester. They will be given employment opportunities after graduation.

Lee Kyu-ho, head of Samsung BioLogics’ People Center, said, “Samsung BioLogics was able to grow into a global CDMO leader thanks to the efforts and innovation of our talented individuals,” and added, “Through this agreement, we will foster more bio talent and lead the future of the bio industry together.”

Meanwhile, Samsung BioLogics and Samsung Bioepis are putting a lot of effort into nurturing domestic bio talent. Starting with Seoul National University in February, they are continuously expanding industry-academia cooperation with universities with bio-related departments to nurture bio experts.
