Curious custom of Samsung, which always chooses the middle of August to make one of its most important announcements of each year. And for this 2022, the South Korean firm has wanted to dedicate its summer launch to updating its folding phones, although it has also made room for its new smart watch. We remember that the previous Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 were also presented in August of last year.
TM Roh, president of Samsung, began without preliminaries to talk about the revolution that the company’s first foldables represented, one of the first firms that dared to market them. Today, in its fourth iteration, the ‘flexible’ technology, according to the executive, has reached maturity.
Z Flip 4, totally renewed
We start with the Z Flip 4, the smallest of the family and the most successful folding terminal so far. The new version comes with important new features. The cameras, for example, which allow different uses depending on how we place the terminal, are based on new sensors of 1.8 nanometers, larger and capable of collecting more light than ever. The stability is in charge of the mobile itself, which when folded can make the times from a tripod. A small 1.9-inch Super Amoled screen shows what we’re focusing on no need to open the phone. From there we can take photos and videos without any problem (and without using our hands) thanks to the new FlexCam, which arrives optimized for use on social networks.
The main screen, open, is a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED with a resolution of 2640 × 1080, with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.
The small screen, more versatile than in previous versions, also allows us to check notifications, and even pay at any store without even having to open the phone, which by the way debuts a color, Bora Purple. The cover, this time, is minimalist and can be said to be part of the terminal, protecting it from bumps and scratches. The processor, of course, is the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Qualcomm’s most powerful. The battery is larger 3,700 milliamps and with a fast charging system that allows charge 50% of the phone in 30 minutes with an adapter of 25 W or more… and now it allows up to 19 hours of video chat and 56 hours of conversation.
Samsung also showed a Bespoke Edition, in colors more vivid and that allows a greater degree of personalization. The new Z Flip 4 will arrive on August 26 in configurations of 8 GB of RAM with 128, 256 or 512 GB of storage space and starting at 1,099 euros.
Galaxy Z Fold 4, a professional
Lighter and stronger than ever, in the new Z Fold 4 Samsung has experimented with new materials, replacing metal and resulting in a more manageable phone despite its size. Unfolded, its large screen of 7.6-inch Dynamic Amoled allows you to view content with great quality and have several applications open at the same time, making easier multitasking. The adaptive refresh rate is up to 120 Hz. You can drag text and photos from one window to another with a simple gesture or with the S Pen, or collaborate with others in video conferences and with applications open at the same time. And this is also true, for the first time, with apps like Chrome or Gmail.
Galaxy Z Fold 4
Closed, the terminal shows a 6.2-inch screen of the same quality, which allows you to use the phone in the same way as any other mobile and no need to open it.
It has a triple rear camera, with an ultra wide angle of 12 megapixels, a wide angle of 50 megapixels and a telephoto lens of 10 megapixels. The selfie camera is also 10 megapixels, and we find a fifth 4-megapixel camera under the screen.
The processor is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, so the power of the terminal is more than guaranteed.
The phone will arrive august 26 in configurations of 12 GB of RAM with 256, 512 or 1 TB of storage space. Its price starts at 1,799 euros and reaches 2,159 euros in its highest configuration.
Galaxy Watch 5 y 5 Pro
Samsung’s new smart watch comes in two versions, which are synchronized with the mobile with a single touch, and in two sizes, 40 and 44 mm. It has a Sapphire crystal and an intelligent algorithm allows us to monitor our effort in a large number of sport activities, as well as monitor sleep and its quality. A larger contact surface with the wrist allows more precision to the various sensors, among which a new temperature sensor stands out, information that Samsung guarantees will be private.
Galaxy Watch 5
The screen, 1.4 inches in the large size and 1.2 inches in the small one, is Super AMOLED and includes the Always display function. The processor is a dual-core Exynos W920 at 1.18 HHz and it has 1.5 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage.
The battery is 13% larger than the previous version in Galaxy Watch 5, and up to 60% larger in the Pro version, and it loads faster. Prices start at 299 euros for the Bluetooth version and 349 euros for the LTE model. The more expensive Galaxy Watch 5 Pro starts at 469 euros in the Bluetooth version and 519 euros in the LTE model.
