The South Korean electronics manufacturer, Samsung, officially unveiled its new foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Flip 4, on Wednesday, after days of reports and rumors about the phone’s settings and specifications.

The design of the phone – which was launched at the “Galaxy Unpacked 2022” event – is characterized by a clamshell shape, and the new phone has a reinforced aluminum body, which the company calls “Armor Aluminum”, and it is water-resistant with an “IPX8” rating.

Screen and modern technology

The new foldable phone also features a 6.7-inch “AMOLED 2X InfinityFlex” dynamic screen, with an adaptive refresh rate of 120 Hz and an aspect ratio of 22:9.

The basic screen size is quite similar to last year’s model.

There is a 1.9-inch “Super AMOLED” external display with a resolution of 260 x 512 pixels.

Flex mode will allow users to access two apps in split screen mode when the phone is partially folded.

Samsung claims that users can make calls, answer texts, unlock the car, and more from the outside screen.

The new smartphone is powered by the world’s leading processor, “Snapdragon 8+ Gen1” developed by the American company “Qualcomm”, which comes with an octa-core 4 nm architecture, paired with an advanced graphics processor of the type “Adreno”.

The processor works with 8 GB of RAM of the “LPDDR5” type, and up to 512 GB of internal storage of the type “UFS 3.1”.

And the phone – which comes with two SIM cards (Nano + eSIM) – works on the “Android 12” operating system directly from the box, with the traditional “Samsung” interface from the “OneUI 4.1.1” version.

Phone connectivity options include the fifth generation (5G), the fourth generation (4G or LTE), “Wi-Fi 802.11” dual-band (2.4 + 5 GHz), “Bluetooth v5.2” and “USB Type-C” port and “GPS/A-GPS” and “NFC”.
