Samsung has released an update for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S8

by time news

Old Android devices are often abandoned by the manufacturers and updates for them can perhaps be found on various developer websites and this is also not very certain, but it turns out that Samsung continues to provide updates for the Galaxy S7 launched in 2016 and the Galaxy S8 that arrived a year later.

The new software versions do not change the version of the Android system so no big change should be expected, but they are designed to address the GPS problems. Thus, the Galaxy S7 series, which includes the Galaxy S7, S7 mini and S7 Edge, will be updated to the G93xFXXU8EVG3 version, which is relatively small and has a volume of about 31 megabytes. In contrast, for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus the G95xFXXUCDVG4 version is much larger with a volume of 420 MB.

Although this is a small update, it is important so that the GPS receiver can continue to work. Samsung has already released a similar update to fix the problem in even older series such as the Galaxy J7 which was released to the market back in 2015 and is apparently still being used quite a bit in the market. According to reports, Samsung is preparing a similar update for other devices and this even includes the Galaxy S6 that was released 7 years ago as well as the Galaxy S9 series.

However, the update does not refer to software fixes or a change in the operating system version. Currently it is a distribution in Europe and it is possible that in the future the update will reach all the devices in the world.
