jpnn.com – It is reported that Samsung plans to acquire the network infrastructure business of the Finnish company, Nokia.

The news came from an unnamed industry insider as reported by GSM Arena on Saturday (31/8).

So far, Samsung has actually been involved in the network infrastructure industry through RAN, but its market share is relatively small.

Last year alone its market share was only 6.1 percent globally.

It makes sense for Samsung to make acquisitions, so that it can expand its reach and capacity in the industry.

Based on the report, an alleged figure of US$10 billion (around Rp. 155.4 trillion) for the sale has been circulating.

If the deal goes through, Samsung will effectively become the second-largest RAN supplier worldwide, with a market share of 25.6 percent.

Nokia has struggled in recent years to compete with other global network infrastructure players such as Huawei and Ericsson.
