Samsung Launches “Designed for Samsung Gaming Hub” Certification for Smart TV Accessories
Samsung has announced the launch of its “Designed for Samsung Gaming Hub” certification for third-party accessory manufacturers, allowing them to design game controllers for Samsung smart TVs that are more compatible and provide a better operating experience.
The certification comes after Samsung added the Gaming Hub service to its smart TV products, which now support the use of Microsoft Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and NVIDIA GeForce NOW streaming game services, and can be played with Bluetooth game controllers.
With Samsung’s smart TV products holding a significant market share globally and being the world’s largest TV brand for 17 consecutive years, the “Designed for Samsung Gaming Hub” certification is expected to guarantee sales for third-party accessories manufacturers.
General Bluetooth game controllers can be used on Samsung smart TVs, but compatibility issues have been reported. The new certified game controllers will ensure better compatibility and will feature a set of dedicated buttons to quickly start the Gaming Hub service, as well as the ability to operate the TV power switch and volume control button.
The Gaming Hub service currently supports streaming game services including Xbox Game Pass, GeForce NOW, Amazon Luna, Boosteroid, Blacknut, Utomik, and Antstream Arcade. Additionally, popular audio and video streaming services such as Spotify, Twitch, and YouTube can also be accessed through the Gaming Hub service.
The first gaming controller to meet Samsung’s “Designed for Samsung Gaming Hub” certification is the PDP Replay launched by PDP, featuring a battery life of up to 40 hours and a low-latency Bluetooth connection distance of up to 30 feet. The controller is now available for pre-order through its official website.
The certification is expected to pave the way for more third-party accessories designed specifically for Samsung smart TVs, further enhancing the gaming and entertainment experience for users.
