Extreme sports fans and health conscious people can now register for the competition, which tries to break the Austrian record for ice bathing while giving access to sport for people with disabilities.
Samsung presented its new technical development, the Galaxy Watch Ultra, at an event (LEADERSNET reported). Now the high-tech company is inviting extreme sports fans and health-conscious people to attend the launch of the new watch and ice swimming record attempt on July 18 and thus raise money for a good cause. All this will happen at the Museumsquartier in the center of Vienna.

With 100 euros for everyone who enters the cold water, Samsung supports the youth sports program of the Austrian Paralympic Committee. The goal is to raise 25,000 euros to support the Talent Day project, which informs young people with physical and visual disabilities about the interest of sport. The number of participants is limited to 300 people and it works on a “first come, first served” basis.
Collective Record
As well as raising money, there is also a focus on the record attempt. However, the idea from Samsung Austria is not to evaluate the individual performance of a participant, but the collective ice swimmer. The challenge takes place during the sunny hours of the evening of July 18th.
The new smartwatch can finally be tested live at the event to determine its resistance to the effects of cold and water. Additional features allow people who pay attention to their health while ice swimming. Training for all participants will begin at 4 pm The event is scheduled until 8 pm
Celebrity support
Austrian content creator and designer Max Weissenböck is also among the participants. He wants to bring at least 50 ice swimmers to the start of his direct community. The entire record attempt is suggested by Nora Kahn.
At least 250 people will gather in four pools in the center of the Museum Quarter and dive into the icy water together. But not without preparation, as ice swimming can be a challenge for inexperienced bodies. That’s why extreme athlete Daniel Fetz takes the instructions. The two-time world champion snowboarder is an experienced ice swimmer and had already set a new record with his community at the start of the year by leading 200 people in the ice swim. Samsung has to break this record now.
The fastest person wins
Beyond the record attempt, there is even more for visitors to experience on July 18. This means that those present have the opportunity to grab the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra by freeing it from huge blocks of ice using physical activity.
