jpnn.com – Samsung is reportedly considering acquiring Nokia’s infrastructure business.

Rumors about the acquisition of the Finnish company came from an unnamed industry insider, as quoted from GSA Arena, Saturday (31/8).

Even though Nokia no longer produces smartphones, they still have a significant market share in the network infrastructure business.

On the other hand, Samsung has actually been involved in the network infrastructure industry through Radio Access Network (RAN), but its market share is relatively small.

Last year alone its market share was only 6.1 percent globally.

So it makes sense for the South Korea-based company to make an acquisition, so it can expand its reach and capacity in the industry.

Based on the report, an alleged figure of US$10 billion (around Rp. 155.4 trillion) for the sale has been circulating.

If the deal goes through, Samsung will effectively become the second-largest RAN supplier worldwide, with a market share of 25.6 percent.
