CES 2025 promises exciting innovations – from giant TVs to smart household appliances to developments in AI and autonomous cars.

Artificial intelligence has become the pacesetter of the technology industry. When the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) opens in Las Vegas on January 7, 2025, AI will no longer just be a trendy topic, but will be found in almost every product. The technology trade fair, which is traditionally seen as an indicator of the most important trends of the year, shows the entire spectrum.

From televisions that communicate with ChatGPT to self-optimizing smart home systems to cars that navigate traffic more safely thanks to AI. But manufacturers are also coming up with innovations beyond artificial intelligence – gaming fans in particular can look forward to a real leap in technology.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang kicks off the trade fair with his eagerly awaited keynote speech on the eve of the official opening. The chipmaker is expected to present its new series of Geforce series graphics cards. According to rumors, Nvidia is planning to introduce five new models.

The cards should be equipped with a new, so-called neural rendering function and can display games even more realistically. Competitor AMD also wants to follow suit and present its new generation of graphics cards.

Two clear trends are emerging in the TV segment: Screens are becoming ever larger, with consumers increasingly turning to models larger than 75 inches. Samsung, LG, TCL, Hisense and other providers will present their latest OLED and mini-LED models. Panasonic also wants to show new models after its successful return to the US market.

At the same time, manufacturers are massively upgrading their devices with AI functions. After the success of ChatGPT and other AI assistants, chatbots could also find their way into the next generation of TV. The HDMI Forum has already announced that it will present the new HDMI 2.2 standard at CES.

In the smart home segment, visitors can expect a flood of innovations from companies that place an emphasis on integrating the new Matter standard, which is intended to simplify the networking of various devices. The new Aliro standard, which enables a uniform communication protocol and registration process from different manufacturers, could also bring about movement, particularly in the area of intelligent locks (“Smart Locks”).

After the success of Amazon’s Echo Hub, experts are expecting a wave of new touchscreen devices for smart home control. The topic of energy management also plays an important role – many manufacturers rely on AI-controlled systems to optimize energy consumption.

The automotive industry has now become a fixture at CES. BMW wants to introduce its “Neue Klasse” platform with a revised panoramic iDrive display and a completely new operating system. Honda plans to reveal more details about its electric “Honda Zero” model line and its cooperation with Sony.

The Japanese automobile manufacturer Suzuki, which is represented at the CES for the first time this year, is devoting itself to the topic of autonomous driving in the spirit of sustainable mobility. Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla wants to primarily address the issue of range at the trade fair. Even though many other major car manufacturers are taking a break this year, important suppliers such as Bosch and Continental will present their latest developments.

New processors from Intel and AMD are expected in the laptop segment. These will be used together with the new Nvidia graphics cards in numerous gaming laptops. Lenovo will probably show new portable consoles in collaboration with Valve or Microsoft’s Windows platform.

Monitors are also making a big leap forward: Asus and Samsung are presenting the first 27-inch 4K OLED displays with a 240 Hz refresh rate. MSI goes even further and announces an OLED monitor with 500 Hz.

In the area of wearable technology, the focus is less on classic smartwatches and more on intelligent rings, AR glasses and AI wearables. After the success of the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, experts expect numerous new products in this segment. There is also news in the health sector with over-the-counter hearing aids and remote health monitoring systems.

The organizers are expecting around 140,000 visitors – this means the trade fair is slowly approaching the pre-Corona level of up to 185,000 participants. In addition to tech greats like Jensen Huang, Delta boss Ed Bastian, Panasonic CEO Yuki Kusum and X-CEO Linda Yaccarino will also appear as keynote speakers.

The current Federal Minister for Digital, Volker Wissing, will also be there. Panasonic boss Yuki Kusum will take over the official opening of CES 2025 on Tuesday morning.
