Samsung will get a special version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy S23

by time news

Qualcomm this week announced the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and various manufacturers rushed to announce that they will offer new devices based on it early next year. The one who should also use it is Samsung (Samsung) for the new generation of the Galaxy S23 devices, which according to reports will have its own special version.

as per the leaker Ice Universe, while all manufacturers will get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 marked as the SM8550-AB model, Samsung will get its own dedicated model marked as the SM8550-AC. The difference, according to him, is that the working frequency of the Cortex-X3 cores will be higher, so that its devices will have peak performance compared to competitors.

Thus, while the normal version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will reach a maximum clock speed of 3.2 GHz, in the Galaxy S23 devices the speed will increase to 3.36 GHz, that is, a difference of 5% which is not very much but still gives them the advantage. This figure is also consistent with the latest leaks that surfaced on the subject and with a screenshot uploaded by Ice Universe from the GeekBench performance test app.

It is not yet clear whether the dedicated version is exclusive only to the Galaxy S23 Ultra model or to the entire new series. Meanwhile, according to the latest reports, Samsung may advance the launch to the beginning of February, and by then it is likely that new details will emerge.
