Samsung Electronics has unveiled plans to expand its post-COVID-19 operations in areas such as biopharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence, semiconductors and robots. The company is ready to invest $ 205 billion in this program and intends to employ 40 thousand people within three years.
It is noted that Samsung intends to become “a company that opens up a new future.” Of the $ 205 billion allocated for the program, $ 153.5 billion will be invested in South Korea, including in the development of innovations in biotechnology, in industrial restructuring, the construction of new plants, mergers and acquisitions, and strengthening the company’s leadership in the production of semiconductors. Shares of Samsung Electronics on the Seoul Stock Exchange after the publication of the program rose 3.1%.
The program was presented by Samsung a few days after the early release of the vice president and de facto head of Samsung Electronics Lee Jae Young. Recall that in January the court sentenced him to two and a half years in prison for bribery and embezzlement of funds.
