Grosseto The Church of Grosseto is kicking off its Laurenzian festivals with a vital collection aimed at supporting its Solidarity Shop, a service that provides essential goods to approximately 200 local families in need.
San Lorenzo Collection Aids Local Families
A collection drive is underway in Grosseto to stock a shop that allows families to access necessities without spending money.
Did you know? The Solidarity Shop operates on a points card system, enabling families to “buy” food and hygiene products.
The first of two collection days is happening now at Coop supermarkets in the MaremĂ and Aurelia Antica shopping centers. Volunteers, easily identified by their green bibs, are engaging shoppers throughout the day.
This initiative, which began in 2014, aims to replenish the shop’s shelves, ensuring those served can find what they need, even during the summer months. It also serves as a reminder of the persistent presence of poverty within the community.
The second part of the collection is scheduled for Saturday, August 2, extending to Castiglione della Pescaia.
What to Donate
Donations of non-perishable food items, as well as personal and domestic hygiene products, are welcome.
Solidarity Shop History
The Grosseto shop boasts over a decade of service. Originally located on via Pisa, it moved more than a year ago to larger, welcoming premises provided by the Holy Family Parish. It now has its own entrance on via Jugoslavia.
How does the Solidarity Shop work? It helps families in need by offering a points card system for food and hygiene items, eliminating the need for cash transactions.
