Pedro Sánchez and Alberto Núñez Feijóo will meet again this Monday in Congress. As announced by the PSOE, the acting president of the Government and the leader of the PP will hold a meeting that day at five in the afternoon within the framework of Sánchez’s conversations with the different political groups ahead of his inauguration.

The leader of the Socialists and candidate for re-election already announced after the king’s appointment that he would include Feijóo in his round of contacts, as the leader of the Popular Party also did during his failed investiture attempt. Sánchez clarified that this meeting would be framed, in any case, within the scope of political courtesy and that it would not, in any case, have the purpose of asking for support for the PP.

“We are logically going to address the PP, but we are not going to do it to obtain their support. Nor for what they have done, which is to appeal to the worst of corruptions: transfuguism. I am not going to ask PP defectors to support the PSOE. I am going to address them to ask them to comply with the laws, to comply with the Constitution, to unblock the government of the judges,” he said during his appearance at Moncloa.

According to socialist sources, Sánchez already tried to meet with Alberto Núñez Feijóo last Wednesday, when he opened his round of contacts with the vice president and leader of Sumar, Yolanda Díaz. But the PP alleged scheduling problems for not closing it then even though the Galician politician had no public events scheduled for that day.

For their part, the popular party assures that in that meeting “Feijóo will convey to Sánchez the absolute rejection of the first political party in Spain that the governability of our country is conditioned to the demands of the independence movement and represents the rupture of the equality of all Spaniards. ”.

In a statement, the PP adds that “the amnesty cannot be a bargaining chip for Pedro Sánchez to remain in Moncloa.” “It is neither constitutional nor ethical to undermine the principle of equality among the citizens of our country, nor is there authorization from the polls to treat anyone in a privileged manner, whether pro-independence politician or not,” they point out.

In the extensive note on Génova Street, it is emphasized that once “Sanchez has acknowledged having established negotiations with the independentists, he will ask who and, above all, what the PSOE is negotiating to remain in power despite having lost the elections. “The Spanish have the right to know all the details.”

“Feijóo will advance the PP’s negative vote on Sánchez’s investiture and will take the opportunity to demand that the candidate who mandates the president of Congress specify the date of the debate, once the president of the Chamber set the plenary session for Feijóo’s investiture at 24 hours, but four days after Sánchez’s appointment we still do not have a time horizon for that plenary session,” the statement concludes.
