Madras High Court had given relief to the five collectors. ED had challenged the High Court order in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has stayed the High Court order. The Supreme Court said that the writ of the officials and the state government before the High Court is a misleading step. The Supreme Court said that in such a situation, the order of the High Court is stayed and thus the district collectors will have to appear before the ED on the next date. During the last hearing, the Supreme Court had told the Tamil Nadu government that the state government should help the ED. The Supreme Court had said that the state machinery should assist the ED in investigating whether any crime has been committed and there is no malpractice in it.
