Sandra Hülser on course for an Oscar: The German actress is nominated as a leading actress for Hollywood’s highest award. With her there are four other candidates in the Oscar race.

The German actress Sandra Hülser has been nominated for an Oscar for her leading role in the legal drama “Anatomy of a Case”. This was announced by the Film Academy in Los Angeles. In the film by French director Justine Triet, Hülser (45) plays a successful writer under suspicion of murder. It is the first Oscar nomination for the actress, who comes from Suhl in Thuringia and lives in Leipzig.
Huller is joined in the Best Actress category by four other actresses: Lily Gladstone (“Killers of the Flower Moon”), Carey Mulligan (“Maestro”), Annette Bening (“Nyad”) and Emma Stone (“Poor Things”) ).
Sandra Hülser is happy about her Oscar nomination – and the success of the two films in which she appears. “For me, what has happened now is a bit of the highest of emotions,” the 45-year-old told dpa on Tuesday after her nomination for Best Actress in “Anatomy of a Case” was announced.
“It’s just a very nice feeling”
She followed the nomination on the live stream at home. She won’t celebrate today – she’s going to work now, she said. “I’m going to work right now and I’ll be home tomorrow. But I’m just happy all the time now. That’s enough.”
“Anatomy of a Case” by the French director Justine Triet is nominated for the Oscar for Best Film, among others – as is “The Zone of Interest” by Jonathan Glazer, in which Hülser also stars.
“I’m just happy that both films have received such great recognition and that all of our work is so recognized,” said Hülser. “It’s just a very nice feeling that this space is getting so big in which this is visible. That’s really great.”
“Anatomy of a Case” is about the writer Sandra, who lives in the French Alps with her husband Samuel and their almost blind son Daniel. When Samuel is found dead in front of the chalet, everything looks like a bad fall. But it doesn’t take long before Sandra is suspected of having killed her husband and has to answer for it in court.
The 96th Academy Awards are scheduled for March 10 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. (dpa)
