“All this is similar to the methods of patriarchy: contempt, domination, lies, feeling of impunity”… Claire Monod does not choose her formula at random. The Parisian environmental activist, legislative candidate in 2017 in the 9e constituency (i.e. 13e district of the capital), is not angry at having been preferred to Sandrine Rousseau in 2022 by the governing bodies of Europe Ecologie-Les Verts (EELV), despite a vote in her favor by local activists. A conflict that she decided to bring to justice, by filing a complaint on Wednesday June 14 with the Paris prosecutor’s office, against Mme Rousseau, elected from the constituency, with 58.05% of the vote, in the legislative elections of June 2022.

In this documentary, Mr.me Rousseau is questioned about a home insurance certificate for an apartment on avenue de Choisy – in reality occupied by an environmental activist – which she used as proof of address to register on the lists Parisian elections, the 1is mars 2022. “Yes, I bet on this rental to settle in the 13e »she assures the camera of France Télévisions.
Sandrine Rousseau is actually from Lille, where she spent most of her career and made her debut in politics. But, according to M.me Monod, she could not find any winnable constituency there, these being occupied by two deputies La France insoumise (LFI), Adrien Quatennens and Ugo Bernalicis. She therefore set her sights on a winnable constituency, the 9e from Paris.
“We don’t play Monopoly”
Legally, it is not necessary to reside in an electoral district to be a candidate. Mme Rousseau, moreover, assured that the choice to settle in Paris corresponded to a real change of life, arguing for the schooling of her children and the work of her husband in the capital. But for Claire Monod and her counsel, Me Jérôme Karsenti, this certificate “fraudulent” allowed M.me Rousseau “to certify that she is a voter in the borough”a way of “feign an anchor” in the 9e constituency with the EELV authorities and to facilitate his investiture. “It shocked meexplains M.me Monod, I told myself that I couldn’t sit around doing nothing. »
For her, “It’s an incredible contempt to say that you can use any bogus certificate to invent a life in the 13e [arrondissement de Paris]. You don’t play Monopoly with the electoral code”. She finds, moreover, “strange this form of casualness” posted by Mme Rousseau, which she compares with her political positions. “Lying when you want to set yourself up as mother virtue…, ecology is a profound change, not a festival of hypocrisy”she asserts.
