A Sanducero lawyer drafted a project on border crossing registration and control on international bridges with Argentina that, through data cross-checking, establishes crossing preference for the most vulnerable population. Carlos Cabrera assures that “with the existing regulations in the country it is possible to apply a project like this, thereby saving us those eternal debates in Parliament. There are the Personal Data Protection Law and the Customs Code, which can be expanded if necessary.” He proposes considering the socioeconomic situation of people to allow the transfer of goods and fuel. It maintains the current regulations of 5 kilos per person every 15 days but gives crossing preference to the sector with fewer resources, applied only to the purchase of groceries and fuel. 70% of the daily quotas are established – considering the historical crossing of the last six months – for the committed socioeconomic population, unemployed, disabled and beneficiaries of Mides; and the remaining 30% for formal workers, businessmen and owners of new and high-end vehicles. It is not a mandatory system because “anyone who does not want to schedule can cross as soon as possible, however they will not be able to bring merchandise from Argentina. In fact, that happens today, if you do not make the Customs Affidavit you cannot enter merchandise.” It maintains the crossing without limit for tourist purposes, walks, medical consultations and many other reasons.
