Time.news – “Futurism, a movement that established itself from Italy throughout the world, was able to leave strong traces also in the South as a sign of a cultural challenge to renewal and the creation of a modernity. Reconstructing the passages of these visionaries to the South of the avant-gardes is one of the challenges won by the organizers of the exhibition who first of all achieved the objective of the cognitive recovery of this phenomenon which has infected all artistic disciplines, leaving a legacy of thought and creativity that is still relevant today”.

In the National Museum of Matera, a Palazzo Lanfranchi, over 130 paintings, sculptures and drawings from public museums, foundations, archives and private collections are on display. The itinerary is completed by published and unpublished archive documents from various institutions. As many as 25 Futurist posters arrived at the Matera exhibition from the Salce Collection National Museum, confirming the collaboration between the National Museum of Matera and the Veneto Regional Museums Directorate around the “Futurisms” project.

The exhibition, conceived by Annamaria Mauro and Daniele Ferrara, curated by Massimo Duranti, is promoted by the National Museum of Matera in collaboration with the Veneto Regional Museums Directorate and will be open to visitors until January 10th.

“The vocation of the National Museum of Matera as a center for research and memory of the historical and cultural tradition of the South finds full expression in the exhibition dedicated to Futurism. The exhibition focuses on the contribution of the artists of the South in the birth and development of this important experience art of the last century,” he said the general director of the Museums, Massimo Osanna, speaking at the inauguration of the exhibition.
