Chief conspirator in Palakkad Sanjith murder case arrested Alathur Govt. LP school teacher Bawa Master was arrested. Bawa is the PFI Alathur Divisional President. It is reported that the conspiracy to assassinate Sanjit was led by Bawa. (sanjith murder case main culprit arrested)
On November 15, Sanjith was hacked to death by Popular Front activists while riding his bike with his wife. So far 21 people have been arrested in the case. The latest to be arrested is the owner of an Akri shop who helped demolish the bikes used by the main accused in the case. The probe team found that Sanjith was killed due to political animosity.
On May 5, the high court had dismissed a petition filed by his wife Arshika seeking transfer of the case to the CBI. The court said the police chief should oversee the investigation and this should continue until it is confirmed that the last accused has been arrested. The case was heard by Justice K Haripal.
