Sanju Samson, the talented Malayalam player, has not been included in the Twenty20 World Cup team by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Despite being considered for the ODI team, Sanju has been left out of the T20 squad for the upcoming series against South Africa. The Indian team’s wicketkeepers for the T20 series will be Ishan Kishan and Jitesh Sharma, while in the ODI series, Sanju will serve as the wicketkeeper in a team led by K.L. Rahul.

It is expected that Rahul himself will take on the wicketkeeping duties in the three-match ODI series, leaving Sanju to play primarily as a batter. The T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place in the US and West Indies in June next year, and in preparation for the tournament, BCCI is focusing on playing more T20 matches in the coming months.

Sanju’s exclusion from the T20 team suggests that he is not currently part of BCCI’s plans for the World Cup. Despite being primarily considered for the T20 teams in the past, he has only been included in the ODI team as of late. This decision has riled up fans and raised questions about BCCI’s strategy.

The players participating in the T20 series against Australia have also been named in the squad for the T20 series against South Africa, with Suryakumar Yadav serving as the captain. However, Sanju still has a chance to secure a spot in the T20 World Cup team if he performs well in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) matches. Although he last played for India in the T20 series against Ireland, his consistent performance in the IPL could propel him back into the national team.

Despite showing his potential by scoring 40 runs off 26 balls in his last T20 match for India, Sanju has been overlooked for other major tournaments such as the Asian Games, Asia Cup, and ODI World Cup. With the T20 World Cup looming, Sanju will need to make a strong impression in the IPL to regain the selectors’ attention.
