Sanju Samson in Indian Twenty20 squad, Rahane and Pujara out of Test squad

Malayalee cricketer Sanju Samson has been named in the Indian squad for the Twenty20 series against Sri Lanka. Rohit Sharma will lead the team in the Test and Twenty20 series against Sri Lanka. Out-of-form veterans Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara have been dropped from the Test squad. Injured K.L. Rahul is not in either team. Newcomer Saurabh Kumar has been named in the Test squad. The team was announced by a selection committee headed by Chetan Sharma.

Former skipper Virat Kohli and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant have been rested from the Twenty20 series. Ravindra Jadeja returns to Twenty20 squad Kuldeep Yadav has been named in the Test and Twenty20 teams. The Indian tour of Sri Lanka starts on February 24. The three-match Twenty20 series will be followed by a two-match Test series. Both the matches in the Test series are part of the World Test Championship.

The first match of the Twenty20 series will be played on February 24 in Lucknow. The second and third matches will be played on February 26 and 27 at Dharamshala. The first match of the Test series will be played in Mohali from March 4 to 8. The second Test will be played in Bangalore from March 12 to 16.
