The timeless voice of the classics, an appreciated indie singer-songwriter and the rapper who rose to prominence with “Amici”: here is the variegated trio from Campania on the stage of the Ariston

from Giuliano Delli Paoli

There are three big bells from Campania at the next Sanremo Festival, scheduled at the Ariston theater from 1 to 5 February 2022. The first of the musicians announced last night by Amadeus during Tg 1 of 20 is the timeless Massimo Ranieri. For the famous Neapolitan singer, actor and TV presenter, triumphant in the unforgettable 1988 edition with «Losing love», it is the seventh presence at the Festival. On the other hand, the singer-songwriter Giovanni Truppi and the twenty-one-year-old rapper from Vico Equense Luca Marzano, aka Aka 7even, rose to prominence for his participation in the 20th edition of «Amici».

The rapper launched by Amici

A stage name with a double meaning. “Aka” is an English acronym and stands for “Also known as”, that is “Also known as”, while “7even” represents – as the artist has repeatedly stated – the number of his life, given that at 7 years old the young musician was in a coma for 7 days. A number that also recalls the so-called lives of cats. At Amici Marzano he ranked third and recently won the prestigious «MTV Europe Music Award» as the best Italian artist, joining, among others, the various Diodato, Mahmood and Marco Mengoni. A very important milestone for a musician still budding, yet already able to reach the fourth position of the Italian top ten of singles with the hit “Mi misschi”, and conquer a double platinum record before repeating itself with “Loca”, a song from beyond 24 million views on Youtube and as many plays on Spotify.

The indie singer-songwriter that the French like

Giovanni Truppi, born in Naples in 1981, has released five discs. He is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, singer, poet, one of the most eclectic personalities of Italian independent music. In 2015 he won the Club Tenco Award to the emerging author or performer. Excellent feedback from audiences and critics for his album “Poetry and civilization”, indicated among the best records of 2019 by the main Italian media and by the French newspaper “Le Monde”. In 2020 he published the Ep “5”, accompanied by a comic book of stories, in which he duets with Brunori Sas, The Representative of Lista (the duo that this year returns to the Ariston stage), Niccolò Fabi and Calcutta .

A variegated trio, therefore, the one that Campania brings to Sanremo, to which is added Michele Matera, alias Highsnob, a native of Avellino who grew up in La Spezia.
