The second edition of SantJu Trap was born as a project of the final degree project of Manel Vizcaino (Atmospheric Nightmare), following the concert organized last year in the square of October 1 in Sant Julià de Ramis with the purpose to make visible the urban scene of Girona and its immediate circle. “There is a significant qualitative leap with this second edition. In the end, last year we organized it in just one month. It all went really fast and we didn’t even pay the artists. So in the end it was like a party. This year we have worked for many months, professionalizing each and every one of the processes, ”says Vizcaíno, who has connected his passion for music with the final project of the degree in Cultural Communication.

“In the end I can say that I am quite proud of the work done” adds the organizer of a musical event that has the support of the City of Sant Julià de Ramis and Metz Records, a label specializing in urban music promoted by Vizcaíno himself and who is part of the family of the Girona record label U98 Music. Regarding the expectations that have been generated around this new edition, the organization confesses that they are “a little blind-eyed”. However, he is optimistic that he has sold many tickets to people coming from Barcelona. “Even Pau Llonch, former vocalist of At Versaris, is in the case of our festival,” he said.

A more equal poster

One of the highlights of the program of this second edition of the festival is a clear commitment to parity. The presence of names such as the project of the young artist from Vilassar de Mar Irma Farelo (Mushkaa) stands out, which, according to Vizcaíno, despite having only three singles published so far, is about to make a big leap. Also noteworthy is the presence of Tramma, the stage name of Marta Romeu, the young singer and songwriter from Barcelona who has been based in Lloret de Mar for many years, who made her debut last autumn with the acclaimed album Voldria dir-te. Ramis Katta Lana, a young Catalan singer based in Berlin who has made a name for herself with songs such as Enamorada de un G, and who is currently working on the release of the album, will also take to the stage this Saturday in Sant Julià. Crystals.

The event organizer also highlights the desire to include artists of various ethnicities. In this edition, there will be the presence of the artist from Banyoles Daura Mangara, established as a reference in Catalan rap, who will present his latest studio work, entitled Poetry for bandits. Mangara’s lyrics stand out for their political commitment in the fight for the rights of Afro-Banyoles and for freedom of expression.

A showcase format

The second edition of SantJu Trap comes with the aim of becoming a showcase for new talents in urban music, in all its currents. In this way, from 7 pm, the artists will go through the stage to offer performances that will last half an hour, following the showcase format. “Some of the artistic proposals can almost be said to be live, which always helps to move more people,” said Vizcaíno, who cites as an example Joe Pops, a visual artist who has so far made music videos for many of the referents of the scene, in Catalonia and Spain, and that in Sant Julià de Ramis, will sing for the first time in a scene.
