Santa Clara, promoted to the Primeira Liga, won in their visit to Estoril, 4-1, after a comeback, in the first round of the championship.
At the António Coimbra da Mota Stadium, the home team took the lead with a goal from Alejandro Marqués in the 19th minute, but Santa Clara turned the result around with goals from Vinicius in the 44th minute, Safira in the 70th minute from a penalty kick, Ricardinho in the 74th minute, and João Costa in the 83rd minute.
Santa Clara, which returned to the elite of Portuguese football after a season of absence, joined Sporting, Boavista, and FC Porto in the group of teams that started the Primeira Liga with a win, against an Estoril team that has yet to have Scottish coach Ian Cathro on the bench due to visa issues.
