Santiago Peña assumes as the new president of Paraguay

The economist Santiago Peña became the new president of Paraguay on Tuesday for the period 2023-2028.

Around 8:47 local time (12:47 GMT) the president was sworn in after taking the oath before the president of Congress, Silvio Ovelar. Previously, the vice president, Pedro Alliana, had been sworn in on the Esplanade of the Bay of the Palacio de López, full of guests.
