On April 4, the city of São Paulo had already overturned the mandatory use of a protective mask in the health service, after Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) made the use of the protection item more flexible by patients in services such as hospitals, basic health facilities and laboratories, the day before.
According to the WHO, the end of the public health emergency situation does not change the pandemic classification, which means that the spread still occurs at an international level.
“What this news means is that it is time for countries to transition from emergency mode to managing Covid-19 along with other infectious diseases,” said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom at the time.
