After the WHO (World Health Organization) declared that Covid-19 is no longer a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (Espii), the mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes (MDB), followed the same path last Friday. fair (12).

The emedebista revoked decree 59.283, of March 16, 2020, which declared an emergency situation in the municipality and defined other measures to face the pandemic resulting from the coronavirus.

Despite this decision, vaccination against Covid continues with Pfizer’s bivalent immunizer. On May 4, the city released the immunization application for all adults and for those over 12 years old who are part of some risk group.

On April 4, the city of São Paulo had already overturned the mandatory use of a protective mask in the health service, after Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) made the use of the protection item more flexible by patients in services such as hospitals, basic health facilities and laboratories, the day before.

According to the WHO, the end of the public health emergency situation does not change the pandemic classification, which means that the spread still occurs at an international level.

“What this news means is that it is time for countries to transition from emergency mode to managing Covid-19 along with other infectious diseases,” said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom at the time.
